چکیده

The ability to separate opinion from fact within text requires accurate detection of subjective language. Most work in this area has relied on some level of human supervision in the form of hand-tagging or word-list construction. Drawing from the unique nature of the multi-document summarization task, we present an unsupervised method for discovering subjectivity clues using freely available multidocument summarization corpora.

Cognition-Cognizant Sentiment Analysis with Multitask Subjectivity Summarization based on Annotators' Gaze Behavior

For document level sentiment analysis (SA), Subjectivity Extraction, ie., extracting the relevant subjective portions of the text that cover the overall sentiment expressed in the document, is an important step. Subjectivity Extraction, however, is a hard problem for systems, as it demands a great deal of world knowledge and reasoning. Humans, on the other hand, are good at extracting relevant ...

Do Summaries Help? A Task-Based Evaluation of Multi-Document Summarization

We describe a task-based evaluation to determine whether multi-document summaries measurably improve user performance when using online news browsing systems for directed research. We evaluated the multi-document summaries generated by Newsblaster, a robust news browsing system that clusters online news articles and summarizes multiple articles on each event. Four groups of subjects were asked ...

Using Background Information for Multi-document Summarization and Summaries in Response to a Question

In our second participation to the DUC evaluation, we used the SumUM system for the multidocument summarization focused by events task and summaries in response to a question task. Our multi-document summarization algorithm is based on the use of background information gathered by summarizing previous texts, which is then combined with a new document of the cluster. For producing the summaries ...

On the Subjectivity of Human Authored Summaries

We address the issue of human subjectivity when authoring summaries, aiming at a simple, robust evaluation of machine generated summaries. Applying a cross comprehension test on human authored short summaries from broadcast news, the level of subjectivity is gauged among four authors. The instruction set is simple, thus there is enough room for subjectivity. However the approach is robust becau...
